Sewage Treatment Plants
Sewage from homes and business across the ACT is treated at two treatment plants. The larger of the two is the
Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre located in west Belconnen, and the other is the
Fyshwick Treatment Plant.
The Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC) is the main sewage treatment facility for Canberra and is the largest inland treatment facility in Australia.

The Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant temporarily stores some of the industrial and domestic sewage from the industrial area of Fyshwick and adjacent suburbs and releases it into the downstream sewer main at a controlled rate, befor flowing to the
Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre.
