Enlarged Cotter Dam
Traffic Information 2009 – 2011

What road users can expect during construction
During the construction of the Enlarged Cotter Dam, road users can expect to see more traffic on local roads in the Cotter area. The number and type of vehicles will vary, with peak periods occurring from 6-7am and 5-6pm.

Key roads affected during construction

Key roads used during construction
The primary road to be used by construction vehicles is Cotter Road, with Paddy’s River Road being a secondary route. From the Cotter Road, Brindabella Road will be used as a secondary access route to the construction site.

Road closures due to blasting works
Every effort will be made to avoid road closures. However, during blasting activities sections of Paddy’s River Road and Brindabella Road will need to be closed for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Appropriate measures will be put in place to ensure that the area is cleared of traffic and people.

Access to public areas
To ensure public safety, Cotter Avenue will be temporarily closed during construction. Cotter Avenue is scheduled to close on 4 January 2010, and reopen upon completion of the dam in late 2011.
