Have your say

ACTEW is keen to hear your views and answer your questions about water security, including water purification. You can contact the Water Security – Major Projects office to have your say.

Over the next few years while major water supply projects such as the Enlarged Cotter Dam is progressing, ACTEW representatives will be available to receive your feedback.

In particular, during the design of the demonstration water purification plant, we will be presenting information about the project to interested groups and organisations. To arrange a presentation contact our office.

Consultation to date

Water purification and community consultation

In 2007, ACTEW carried out a community consultation program to find out whether ACT and Queanbeyan residents would support the idea of purifying wastewater for drinking purposes, this program was called Water2WATER.

The research found that most people (75%) were supportive of the idea, as long as ACTEW could provide assurances that any concerns around health and the investigation of other water supply options were addressed.

You can get a copy of the 2007 community consultation report from our website or by phoning our information line.
