Development Application for Cotter viewing platform

On 11 January, ACTPLA placed ACTEW’s Development Application (DA) for construction of a viewing platform near the Enlarged Cotter Dam project site on public exhibition, lasting until 1 February.

This followed ACTEW’s submission in December 2009 of the DA for a viewing platform and trail at the Cotter, which will provide opportunities for the community to watch the progress of the construction of the Enlarged Cotter Dam.

The viewing platform will be located approximately 200 metres downstream of the new dam. It will include upgraded parking facilities at the site of the old Cotter Pub, walking trails and interpretive signage. ACTEW will be actively encouraging local schools and the community to visit the viewing platform and learn about the project and its surrounds.

Subject to DA approval, construction of the viewing platform is expected to finish in mid 2010.

The viewing platform cost is included in the cost for the Enlarged Cotter Dam.
