Construction Update: Enlarged Cotter Dam

Tuesday 9 February 2010 8.30am
Construction is well underway for the Enlarged Cotter Dam, with the Cotter landscape around the site transformed into a busy and productive construction space. More than 500,000 tonnes of concrete will be used to build the new dam, and a large proportion of this will be made using rocks onsite. A crushing plant is being built to crush the rocks into aggregate, the main component of concrete.

Cranes were used to lift the prefabricated roof of the industrial shed into place 10 metres above ground. This shed will house the new crushing plant

Other works we’ve completed include the establishment of a site office, haul roads, fencing and an onsite soil testing laboratory.

Construction of the dam is expected to finish late 2011.
